Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) - Playground Safety Surface

It’s no accident that over 50,000 playgrounds in the U.S. and Canada are surfaced with Fibar Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) playground chips. This wood fiber playground mulch is designed and tested to be a superior product with long-term, trouble-free performance:

Superior raw material. Fibar EWF is made from 100% virgin wood fiber, not used wood, which may contain things you don’t want in your playground.
Superior testing and verification. Fibar EWF is tested regularly to make sure it complies with all relevant ASTM standards: F1292 for impact absorption, F2075 for material purity, and F1951 for wheelchair access. In addition, the testing is independently verified by the International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA).
Superior performance. Unlike some other brands, Fibar EWF is carefully controlled as to type and size of wood fibers. This means that the fibers knit together to provide a surface springy enough to cushion falls, yet firm enough for wheelchairs. Another advantage: Rain water passes through Fibar playground mulch, so kids can play right after it rains. Finally, it simply looks good. Poured-in-Place (PIP) - Playground Safety Surface

A Poured-in-Place seamless EPDM rubber top surface laminated to a shock absorbing rubber cushion. FibarPIP playground surfacing complies with the new ADA LAW. This Fibar playground surfacing is available in a broad range of custom colors and can be used to create distinctive designs that coordinate with playground equipment and surrounding scenery.

Poured-in-Place is a 2-layer system consisting of a basemat of 100% post-consumer recycled SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) and polyurethane and a top surface consisting of recycled post-industrial EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber and polyurethane. Easily customized to meet the safety, design and aesthetic requirements of any playground.

Because the rubber and urethane components are mixed and applied on site, having school colors, logos, games and/or geometric shapes permanently incorporated into the surface are practical options. Thicknesses can be modified on site to meet varying critical fall heights within playgrounds, and colors can be mixed and varied to complement playground equipment and playground settings.

Rubber Mulch - Playground Safety Surface
